17 June 2025
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise members of the public of intended roadworks along Voortrekker Road from Fairfield Road to Botfontein Road in Eikendal. The work starts today, 17 June 2025 and is scheduled to end on Friday, 19 September 2025. Roadwork hours will be from 09:00 to 15:30, Sunday to Friday.
‘The purpose of this project is to carry out resurfacing and general road maintenance along Voortrekker Road from Fairfield Road to Botfontein Road in Eikendal. The works will include isolated relaying of kerbs and channels to restore proper drainage and structure along the road edges. This work is part of the City’s regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of our road network and to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The project will also involve removing the worn road surface and replacing it with a new layer of asphalt to improve driving conditions. Isolated repairs will be made to damaged sections of the sidewalk to ensure it remains safe and accessible for pedestrians.
Additional works include the reinstatement of traffic loops, scoots, and magnetometers, which are used to manage traffic signals and flow. The project will conclude with the repainting of all road markings to enhance visibility and overall road safety.
Towards the end of August 2025, residents and road users can anticipate some night work at the intersection of Voortrekker and Botfontein Roads between 19:00 and 04:30 then.
